The BiH Minister of Security Selmo Cikotić took part at the Regional Meeting on the migration situation along the Eastern Mediterranean Route and its implications on the Western Balkans, organized in Sarajevo by the ICMPD. Minister Cikotić presented current situation pertaining to the migration flows in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and stressed how important for dealing with migration challenges is to cooperate with all countries in the migration spectrum, including the countries of origin, transit and destination.
The meeting was attended by
representatives of countries found on the beginning of the migration spectrum
(Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq), of the middle of the spectrum (Turkey and
the Western Balkans), as well as the countries of destination (the EU countries).
“I am sure that by discussions on:
current migration situation in Afghanistan and down the Silk Road; current
migration situation on the Eastern Mediterranean Route; the new Ukraine situation;
as well as the means and requirements for cooperation on migration between the countries
of origin, transit, destination, and the Western Balkans countries, you managed
to exchange the best practices and experiences, as well as to establish
personal and institutional ties to be used and further developed in the future through
strengthened mutual cooperation”, Cikotić said.
